SPOTLIGHT: The Virtual Diabetes Institute
Keeping CME relevant by leveraging a virtual learning environment

VDI is a digital CME platform I helped develop for MERCK that allows doctors to earn CME credits, host conferences, and interact with peers in an open format. This virtual world features a personalized home office, main conference hall, multiple private meeting spaces, a research library, interactive learning kiosks and a clinic for reviewing virtual patient cases for CME credit.

My team and I designed the entire world, from the VDI Logo, to the buildings and rooms, as well as the avatars and helper bots. We designed every detail, from the foliage in the court yard to the mouse pad on your desk, all in an effort to create an experience that HCPs would find impressive and fun as they engaged with the CME content.

The COURTYARD is where you land when you first enter. Up to date signage gives you a quick reference for all the events in progress and scheduled for the next week.

THE OFFICE is where you can track your progress, get messages and manage your calendar.

THE EVENT HALL is where the big conferences are held. It seats up to 125 guests.

THE LIBRARY is where periodicals and archived recordings are housed. If you host a meeting you can choose to record it and archive it here for later viewing.

THE MEDIA ROOM is where CME courses are taken.

THE CLINIC is where patient case studies are reviewed. The interaction with a virtual patient brings their case to life in a way that you've never quite experienced before.

YOUR ASSISTANT waits for you in the courtyard when you enter.

MEETING ROOMS are where private sessions can be held, and are located throughout the institute.

THE LIBRARIAN is a bot that can help you find anything in the archive.
